Yes, I have a new site. This would be it. Purpose of this site? Well, I wanted to pull together all my Brother stuff into one area, and have it be easy to update and manage. With the help of some good friends, I settled on this format. I hope you enjoy - leave some comments if you wish. For those who saw my old page, it's still there. Look down in the links on the right. Stay tuned, I'm going to be updating this site more and more. I shall ramble now, if you want to read the ramblings, click to continue.
Short Tour: To the right, you see a handy dandy menu. My show reviews are there, and so are links to my picture galleries. The reviews and galleries are the real content of this site. There are also some other links to check out, as well as dates for the upcoming PA shows - cause those are the shows near me. More to come, I promise. If you have any thoughts on what to add, Email me!
So, why am I doing this, you ask. Ok, you didn't, but I'm telling you anyway - you clicked! I happened upon Brother by accident almost, in 1995. Saw a show, bought a CD, and commenced annoying my college roommate by playing it all the time. Since then, I've tried to get to every show I can. The pure musicianship and intensity of performance brings me back every time. There's nothing like the live show. Nothing.
Bagpipes. One of the most hated instruments. I hated them at one point - if you were woken up in your dorm room at 7AM on a Saturday by several different bagpipe bands warming up right outside your window at the same time, you wouldn't be much of a fan either. But, Brother has changed all that. They've managed to take the traditional bagpipes and weave them to become an integral part of of something amazing.
And the didgeridoo? What's that, you say? Well, did-ger-i-doo : a large bamboo or wooden trumpet of the Australian Aborigines. That's not the best definition. The best definition is the feeling you get, sitting in the sunshine on a hot day, listening to the air vibrate around you. It's an experience.
Brother brings this all together into an amazing amalgam of sound. Buy a CD, find an MP3, check them out. The guys clearly are into and care about their music. They are constantly evolving their sound, stretching and changing, and adding new elements. Never is there a boring or predictable moment in a Brother live show. They'll play a song that's several years old, yet it will entrance and surprise you. If an amp blows out, you'll get a 15 minute improv to Crazy rather than have them stop playing.
So, I still haven't really explained why I'm doing this. Cause I want to, pretty much. I enjoy Brother's music, and like to share it with as many people as I can. I figure making this site is a way to do that. That's all.
